Meet Kim Pennington
Kim Pennington joined the Mountain View Internal Medicine and Pediatrics family in May 2011. As a nationally certified Physician Assistant, she is an advocate for the team approach to health care with the PA, physician and patient playing equally important roles. She believes that better health can be achieved by actively listening to her patients' concerns and working together via evidence based medicine to improve quality of life and control disease processes. She also strongly promotes preventative medicine and a healthy lifestyle.
Kim grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergraduate studies in Biology and Anthropology. She moved to the Washington, DC area in 1997 to pursue a Master's Degree in Forensic Science from The George Washington University. She worked as a forensic investigator for 3 years before making the decision to broaden her capabilities to help others. She went back to The George Washington University for her Master's in Health Science/Physician Assistant Studies and graduated in 2002. As a PA, Kim worked in emergency medicine for 7 years at Prince William Hospital and Heathcote Health Center. She served her community in a volunteer position as the Assistant Medical Director for Manassas Park Fire and Rescue and Greater Manassas Rescue squads for 3 years. Ready for more normal hours, Kim left the emergency department to work in orthopedics and spine surgery in Loudoun County. She soon found that she missed working with the patient outside of the operating room and joined Dr. Parikh to deliver primary care to the residents of Haymarket and surrounding areas. Kim and her husband, a special agent for Homeland Security, have lived in the Gainesville/Haymarket area since 2003 and have 2 preschool aged children.
